We at Cumbria Trust think the following email actually demonstrates the unacceptable level of incompetence surrounding the consultation process.
“Technical issue with consultation email address
There are two available ‘radioactivewaste’ email addresses in use for responses to the consultation on a revised siting process for a Geological Disposal Facility: one with ‘gsi’ included and one without.
Although both addresses link through to the same mailbox, we are investigating a potential issue with email ‘bounce-backs’ from the ‘non gsi’ email address in order to ensure that we are receiving all responses.
In light of this technical issue, we will be accepting responses to the consultation until the 19th of December 2013.
If you have sent your response to the ‘non-gsi’ email address and received a bounce-back notification, please resend your submission to firstname.lastname@example.org by the 19th of December 2013.
The GDF Team
What the above actually means to us, is that there is a possibility that the response you worked so hard to complete by the 5th December, may not have been received by “GDF Team” at DECC at all! As you will have now read, the date for submissions has been extended to 19th December to allow anyone who may have had a problem sending their response, to still be included. If you have any reason to suspect that your response may not have reached its intended recipient please take the time to resend it to:
