Allerdale’s GDF Working Group have so far been meeting behind closed doors to consider which parts of Allerdale might like to be a burial site for the nation’s nuclear waste. Cumbria Trust asked to be involved with this, but was refused, under the guise of keeping it ‘small and agile’.Instead they set up a sub group of a sub group of the Working Group and offered us a place on that.
Meanwhile the random individual, Andy Ross, the ‘interested party’ who volunteered the whole of Allerdale excluding the national park (where he happens to live) has kept a low profile.
Now 12 dates for drop-in events around Allerdale have been advertised, although interestingly they seem to be avoiding holding one in the area which could be the prime target – the area around Silloth and Abbeytown.
While these events are being advertised as a chance to discuss and discover more about the search process, in reality the decision on potential search area was made 2 weeks ago. Although the decision will not be in the public domain for the next few weeks.
